  • The opportunity to study with other individuals in a small group context along with a tutor adds an additional bonus. It assists in really being able to engage with the content and with other individuals on similar paths both academically and spiritually. This has been a rich blessing.

  • I have taken IEW Online for several years now, so CHI's and IEW's dual enrollment program was the next logical step for me. Every level in IEW builds on one another, but the dual enrollment program especially does so. This course expanded upon different writing styles and stylistic techniques, like literary critiques, super-essays, persuasive essays, writing decorations, and how to build strong sentences. A bonus is that I received college credit!

  • I came into the program thinking I wasn't really qualified or far enough along in my spiritual journey, but what I found were professors and students who are more than willing to help answer my questions and to hold space for me when I need to wrestle through what I really believe. Having weekly access to a tutor has also been invaluable to me, as has being in community with students from other local churches. This has been a much better experience for me than taking online only courses.

Why did you decide on dual enrollment for your IEW classes this year?

I think dual enrollment is cheaper than going to college. I decided to go with IEW classes because Comp 1 and Comp 2 are required. Why not take a course where you’re going to get quality education so you can use it in other places?

Does CHI give you any support as you turn in your IEW classwork?

We turn in the assignment at the start of the week and they (the CHI graders) tell us what they liked in what we did and how we could do better for the next week.

Would you recommend this program to other students?

Absolutely! I feel like IEW takes an approach that other college courses don't take, and I can use what I learn there in other courses. I'm taking psychology right now, and I'm using IEW in my papers there.

Has dual enrollment been a simple process for you?

There was a learning curve, like learning how to turn things in online. I've only learned directly from Mr. Pudewa where we turned things in during class, so it's different working with someone else, but those issues were pretty much resolved at the beginning of class.

Do you have any advice for other people considering dual enrollment?

Don't leave an assignment until the last minute to turn it in. Figure out the due date and set yours a few days in advance. I once had a panic when the internet went out at my house when I needed to turn in a paper. That wasn't good! But it all worked out.
